I am also looking for an updated map, but there are no updates at www.tomtom.com ?
I have only just installed the software, but found that many streets are not on the map. Would any map updates be listed under the Mobile 5 Updates section on the Tom Tom website? |

I don't know why someone would suggest going to the tomtom site as if we have not tried that. I tried updating from the phone to the tomtom site and it says my version is up to date. Would that include the maps as well? _________________ Nokia 9500, 6670

Hi,
The updates for download through the TomTom website are updates to the Mobile 5 application, to fix bugs etc, as opposed to updates to the maps.
You can however get map updates, as and when they are available, if you subscribe to the updates through TomTom Plus >> http://www.tomtom.com/plus/service.php?ID=7&Language=1
Unfortunaley the maps on any navigation software will never be 100% up to date - due to the lenght of time taken to obtain the data and create the maps - just look how long it took for the M6 Toll Road to appear on Sat Nav software.

That's as good as it gets for now. Maps are always out of date because it takes a long time to get the surveying and compling done. |

I complained to TomTom about the state of their maps and you can view their response here:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=26298
What you have to remember is:
1. This technology is still in its infancy
2. Much of the map data relies on information supplied by local government
<rant>
I don't know about you but where I live (Leeds), the roads are in a shocking state (there's a £66,000,000 backlog of repairs), so it doesn't surprise me that they've also supplied duff data to TeleAtlas.
