TTG 500 & upside down mode

I use my TTG 500 upside down with the screen flipped.
This way I can rest the TomTom on the dash and it doesn't wobble about as much as it does the other way up.(I use the dash mounted disc).
The dowside of this is that the satellite reception is terrible.
It takes an age to get any signal and when it does it sometimes put me on another adjacent road and recalculates, thus giving me totally incorrect voice directions.
I've had a voice instruction telling me to do a U-Turn when I'm travelling the correct way on a motorway!!!!!!
Has anyone else any experience of this happening?
Yes I know I can turn it round, and may have to.

What do you expect - your antenna is facing away from the satellites.

Rather defeats the object of being able to mount the unit upside down then doesn't it. Exclamation

It rather does, but then not many people do it. In fact you are the first one I know who does that. Also an external antenna might help if you insist of hanging your GO upside down.

I think the function of mounting upside down was to facilitate mounting at the top of the windscreen. In that position at least you would get a better signal.

An ext aerial would allow you to mount it in any position (keep it clean), and improve the signal reception.
