Hi,
I am running a 3970 with co pilot 4 which is great but I would like to put the sound through my car stereo.
I have already thought about using a cassette adaptor which I am sure would work but would ideally like to use the head unit input normally used for a mobile phone.
The car is a C class Merc with the standard radio cassette and 6 changer CD player remote.
Any advise or suggestions more than welcomed, im assuming someone does a clever cable or adaptor that I could utilise ?? _________________ Stew |

It is *probably* a case of pulling the phone mute line to ground, and putting the iPAQ's audio (mixed down to mono - a passive mixer should do the job) on the audio input pin.
A DIY solution (assuming you don't need to connect a phone as well - which would make it much more tricky) probably consists of a 3.5mm stereo jack plug for the iPAQ, whatever connector is needed to connect to the Merc's stereo (it isn't VDA, is it - 22 pin 0.1 inch DIL?), two or three resistors, a switch for the mute line and some wire to hook it all up.
Ready made cables - I've never seen one, and I've done a fair amount of investigating in this area (I documented the VDA setup in the Vauxhall Zafira, which applies to other Vauxhalls and pretty much anything that uses the German standard VDA wiring. Information on that is here - Microsoft Word 2000 format, use at your own risk).
Has anyone seen a ready made cable that would do this job?

Stew - how have you got on with this?
I am just starting to plan the same through my Kenwood KRC-778R head unit. I can't hear my H2210 at all with the windows open let alone with the music up. I'm certainly not going to keep my windows up in this weather!
