By the way when I was trying to copy the files over from the "ov2 bmp file" folder. Only some of the files sent over to memory card. When I checked it in the POI there was two which I enabled "continental and UK" but the TomTom slowed down proper. When I was trying to browse it was taking a long time. |

I just want to confirm something, I have a TomTom Go 300 with only UK maps and its not a PaketPC its just the SATNAV. So am I installing the right files. Also the memory card has a little button which can be moved up or down. Do I have to move it someway inorder to copy files as it could be right-protected such as a 3/12 Floppy. |

Hi there if I were you I would get a bigger sd card.
I was told a 256mb would be ok for just UK map and all, but got a 512mb instead as there is more room left for them all app's
Yes the little thing on side of card is like the floppy disc just leave it at top of card. hope this helps |

Nope it costs, and its not as good as the PocketGPS one. Which, incidently, an awful lot of people here can confirm, DOES work. :D
It sounds like you may have a few file corruption problems though. You really need to follow the directions exactly, if you start messing about copying folders and zip files onto the SD card you can't really blame it when it doesn't work.
Beware because there is a folder called "Zip" already on the Go memory card that has nothing to do with zipped files, it is where the postcode database is stored (Zip as in "zip code" geddit)
Try to get your system back to how it was before you downloaded anything, check it all works, then start again.
You may want to delete some of the foreign language voices from your Go to free up some space before you start the rest of the process, then:
1)Download the PocketGPS database to your PC again
2) Unzip it
3) Read the help file
4) Chose which set of .ov2 and .bmp files you want (either the single file, the camera types files, or (probably) the speed zoned set plus the redlight, specs and temp ones) and copy those, and ONLY those to your SD card, into the GB map folder.
5) Follow instructions again to enable them on the tom tom and set it to warn you as you approach
6) When all that is done and working, then you can start thinking about putting the voice alerts on as well. |
