|
|
The new files for Release 3.084 are now on the server and can be downloaded from this page or via POIsync.
The details are as follows: -
pocketgps_uk_gatso – 3543 Gatso cameras, 32 new;
182 Truvelo cameras, 21 new identified as TRUVELO:nnn
pocketgps_uk_redlight - 902 cameras, 20 new
pocketgps_uk_mobile - 2062 sites, 142 new
pocketgps_uk_specs - 109 cameras, 9 new
pocketgps_uk_temp - 48 cameras, 3 new
pocketgps_uk_continental - 135 cameras, see readme.txt for further information
All of the OV2 files have been created using the TomTom utility MakeOV2 so there is no need for TomTom Mobile users to reformat the files. The release number is in the readme.txt file so check that file after downloading. If the new files have not been downloaded then clear your Internet Explorer cache and try again.
Thanks to all of you that sent in updates, and keep them coming in.
Also thanks to Richard (Oldie) for all of his work in administrating the database.
Unfortunately a few ISPs (e.g. NTL) use Inktomi cache servers, which means that some users of those ISPs will have to wait a while for the cache to be updated or ask someone to email you the latest update. By the way, NTL have configured their Inktomi servers to refresh after a period of between 12 and 24hrs so they will update eventually! However, from August 2005 we have changed the name of the download file to include the month and year of release so as to stop any Proxy and Caching issues that some users have experienced.
The link to the beginner’s guide to the PocketGPSWorld camera database can be found here.
The link to the instructions for installing the PocketGPSWorld camera database onto a TomTom GO (Original, 300, 500, and 700) can be found here.
The link to the instructions for installing the PocketGPSWorld camera database onto a PocketPC running TomTom Navigator 5 can be found here.
Do you have a Garmin GPSR? If you do, Walter Wright has used the PocketGPSWorld camera database and converted it for you. The overlay can be downloaded from here.
Release 3.084 of the PocketGPSWorld camera database was made available and announced on Monday 29th August 2005, at 10:05:49 GMT, on the home page.

Hi onezone,
Which email address are you using? It should be:
Cameras [at] PocketGPSWorld [dot] com
Our camera database administrator is away for a few days. I don’t think that that should cause any problems, but you may want to wait a few days and then resend the email.

I am a new user of the database - and it's brilliant thanks!
I am wondering if it is possible to receive email notification when updates are posted. I can't find anything on the site, but may well have missed it.
I have subscribed to "watch" this thread for new posts, but then I realised you probably start a new thread with each new update. Would it b possible to have a sticky thread to announce all updates to which we could subscribe? (i.e. in addition to the one with the specific update details in such as this)
Many thanks |

Hi,
Quick question. I've managed to convert the database to use with Navicore UK 2005. Would you like the file to add to the download?
It weighs in at 70Kb.
Thanks for the database. |

just tried installing the latest database (TT5)
when attempting to over right my existing database I am asked do i want to replace the existing file dated 21/6/05 with the new one dated 4/11/04. Obviously this shows the new database as older than the new one
Have checked and double checked my databse number and it shows as the correct one (3.084) |

Some file such as the Icon bitmaps do not change from release to release and it is these that are dated 09/04.
I've just checked the the database files (the .asc, .csv and .ov2 files) have 28/08 dates. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Would I be correct in assuming that the .bmp files don't need to be copied across with every update, only the .ov2 files?

Absolutely correct. You only need to copy the files that have changed, which will be the .ov2 files.
The only time that you will want to copy the .bmp files is when you download some different or new .ov2 files, which necessitates the need for the relevant .bmp files.

Privateer,
Can you confirm the download file is correct?
It's showing as '...aug05.zip'; shouldn't it be '...sept05.zip'? |

Brain still scrambled from last night - apologies, I'll go and lock myself in the room with no door..... or make some strong black coffee. |
