|
|
Hi I'm ready for a new phone and am also ready to upgrade my very tired Ipaq navman. So I'm going for a BT tomtom mobile.
I was wondering if anybody could recommend the best smartphone with least bugs etc. Also I use a BT nokia handsfree kit so the phone needs dual Bt if this is possible?
Thanks

I'm very happy with my Orange SPV C500 + Tom Tom Mobile 5 set up. I have no problem running TTM5 and using my Jabra BT250 BT Headset at the same time.

unless you already have your tomtom mob 5, i would say look at the qtek s110, it is an extremly small pda/mobile in one. i have just got one and could not be happier, 128mg ram 64mg rom its a standard pda (but smaller) and a mobile phone in one. in size it is smaller than the 6680 nokia
ps uses tomtom navigator 5 |

Nokia 6680, use it with a CK-7W in car handsfree in wired or bluetooth no problems.
Phone allows multiple bluetooth connections.

This may be a stupid question, but will the SPV500 version of TTM5 work on any Windows Mobile 2003 based smartphone? |

Owen,
I was looking at your website for TT5 for my P910i (after writing the post below this one!). You say that TT5 is avail in 2-3 days, is that correct? If so a cheque could be winging it's way towards you!
Cheers :D |

Cheers Owen,
I'm carefully following any news here so spotted that. Thanks for the update, if I go TT5, I'll order from you!
What is current demand like? If I order in a week's time, will I get it at the end of the month?
Thanks |

We do have a large number of back orders across the board for the TomTom mobile products - so it is difficult to say - as at this time we don't know exactly what volume we are going to receive in our initial delivery.
End of September is the current date we have for delivery - but we were originally expecting them in June - so I wouldn't want to promise
Sorry to sound negative, but I'd rather under promise and over deliver.
Best Regards
Owen

Fair one Owen, cheers for that. I'll question Darren again on the Navicore V's TT again and try and make up my mind! Do you think TT5 has any true rivals (less navicore)? Route 66 or wayfinder?

No Problem Nords
To be honest, I don't think that anything else available for SmatPhones is as easy to use with as many advance features/add-ons. I haven't used a SE UIQ phone for a couple of years, or any UIQ software, but based on what I have seen/experienced on Symbian S60 and Windows SmartPhone I don't think you need look further than TomTom.
Wayfinder is an interesting proposition, but I've always felt more comfortable with having an on-board system.
From reading one of Darren's other posts he didn't seem to favour Navicore over TT - but it'll be interesting to read his review.
Cheers
Owen
