It is silly isn't it? and this seems to be the reason why cutting edge technology is not being released. For example I heard a rumour that yonks before sky got in on the act BT were going to supply Video on Demand, ie you request a Movie/sports event at a certain time and you get it. However this was deemed unfair as other telcos did not have the technology.
Also under the regulation they cannot be a broadcaster as that would be unfair to the competition. Hang on a minute, am I right in thinking that a number of the competition have been broadcasting for years? |

...and I thought we all agreed on not using the openzone hotspots until we drove BT to lower the prices to something realistic
(well at least I agreed and tried to hypnotise you guys to do the same. Look into my eyes, my eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around the eyes, look into my eyes... 8O) _________________ Toshiba e750 wifi + Belkin Bluetooth CF card

8O OK then, how about someone with a load of spare time setting up a POI database?....
I was surfing around a month or so ago, and managed to find a list of "Free" WiFi spot in the UK....it jsut needs someone with ample time to convert each address to a POI......
ofcourse, it then needs to be kept upto date!! |

The consume.net stuff looks interesting enough for wi-fi access points (location of) - but as ever its only as good as the info it contains - I searched on my postcode and displayed an area the size of the Fylde and it shows only a couple of points in Southport (I know there are more than that), interseting concept with the search by options. Sorry Guys I had missed this thread.
I have a OV2 file for the cloud which contains about 6000 locations. They are not pin point accurate, but should be close enough to let you know where your nearest is.
I will post it to the server in a few minutes. _________________ Mike Barrett |

Excellent .. so is this going to be kept updated?
I've often wondered why the POI section of this site is so poorly maintained (not a dig at you guys).
Users are clearly upto the task of providing updates (ref Speed Camera DB) - so why not other POI's ? Maybe thats goign to be the next big thing _________________ --

Thanks Mike,
How do I go about installing them? I've had a nose on the POI page and there doesn't seem to be anything about where to put the files.
Cheers
