Richard, great program, but I am having a problem getting the updates as I connect to the internet via a proxy server. Is it possible to configure this in some way, if not please can you add to the "wish list".
Thanks & keep up the good work. |

Hi
Just downloaded OTN and installed onto an XP Pro machine linking via ActiveSync to an HP2210 running TT3.
On initial install I couldn't find a folder that OTN installed to under start-programs. I was not asked to reboot, but I did to see if OTN appeared - and it did, in the system tray.
I have since sussed that it resides in the startup folder.
I have set it to automatically update the great britain folder. Unfortunately I have not yet got to update. So far when it trys to retrieve it has given a 404 error and an xml error on line (can't remember which line, sorry).
After each time OTN tells me that an update has been received - but it hasn't cos it failed. Perhaps a little error trapping is needed here.
I have looked back at the SD car and the ovl/bmp pair of files have not been created.
Regards

Just got a dialogue with the title Miccrosoft .net framework which said...

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just in time (JIT) debugging, the config file for this
application or machine (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the machine
rather than being handled by this dialog.
------end of dialogue-------
CLicking on continue gave another dialogue with no title and said The remote server returned an error:(404) Not found 404
The cause of the first dialogue was.......I got the xml error due to the proxy server stopping OTN in mid update, this closed OTN. I restarted OTN and it started to update. From the proxy server I could see that it had connected to bbc trave and was trying to download the bedfordshire portion, but once again the proxy seemed to not allow otn to download any others and hence the above dialogue appeared.
Hope it helps

OTN updated ok with the ovl/bmp pair of files found under My Documents. :D However it is still not transferring over to the PPC.
OTN did not give any errors, if I look under options it is showing the correct path to the map folder and the automatically update map overlay check box is ticked.
What say you |

Sharpeye - sorry to hear of your issues. I've already added more error trapping around the feed retrieval and the next update will include this.
The XML issue has been seen infrequently before and seems to be a problem with the feed (or server). As soon as I can recreate this in debug mode I will attempt to fix. I may try adding some functionality that stores the offending XML document so affected users can provide me with useful additional debuggung info.
alfie - I forgot all about proxy servers! I will endevour to fix this, however I will be unable to test as I don't use the net in this way. |

I have just installed and got the same problem. So i manually copied the files from MyDocuments to the SD card Map directory.
I then shutdown OTN and restarted it making sure the options pointed to the correct directory. This time it worked perfectly. It even enabled the POI in TomTom 5. excellent
Now for some requests.
How about making OTN start updating automatically when the PPC is connected? i didnt see that happen unless i missed something. It would be ideal to have it in the Activesync folder as a program.... |

I dont have a windows PPC - so no active sync installed, im intending on using it with my palm tomtom - but I cant change the region to my area at the moment!
any advice would be appreciated. |

nealjane - The PocketPC synchronising is based on a DLL that comes with ActiveSync, and this is whats causing your issue here.
I clearly need to find a better way to detect whether this is installed. I will try and find a fix for this but it may not be in the next version. |
