|
|
Dear All,
I have tried this on both TT5Mobile and Navigator and neither seem to like the way the address fields in my Outlook Contacts are formatted. Does anyone know the correct formatting? I can see that carriage returns show up as empty square boxes so I am guessing that there is a character interpretation problem.
All help gratefully received. |

Yes I have.
The address must be entered in Outlook on your PC with new lines for the street, town, postcode etc. then imported to the Outlook address book on your PDA.
If you enter the address straight into Outlook on the PDA it won't work. |

Yes, contacts on your PDA. Sync the addresses from the PC to the PDA. |

Thanks for the confirmations. I have further quantified the problem:
If I enter an address manually into Outlook as a Contact and then sync it works fine.
However, if I use the Add to Contacts button from the Exchange Global Address List for my Corporate Email system then it seems to put extra carriage return characters into the address.
So for those of you using Outlook in Internet email mode there is no problem. If you have a corporate email system and you to try to save yourself the bother of typing things in by using the technology, something is broken.
It would be good to hear from other Corporate Exchange/Outlook users to see if it is specific to the way addresses are added in my company or wider. |

It's nothing to do with the version of Outlook or whether or not Exchange is used, but I find that very few of the addresses in my contacts lists are suitable for TomTom Navigator to find without some sort of tweaking. Most of my contact addresses include additional information such as a flat number, or district/suburb name. I need this information, but TomTom does not. Perhaps it would be better if the software was programmed to make its best guess and just ignore any such extra data. _________________ Kam |
