Went to turn on my x50v this morning and realised that none of the heardware buttons were working - touchscreen etc all ok just the buttons.
Did a full backup and then a couple of soft resets and a hard reset (which I couldn't complete as the buttons didn't work).
Called dell @10am - talked (slowly) to a very pleasant lady in India - 20 minute chat when we tried some things and then she said we would need to swop it.
Got another call from Dell at 1.00pm to confirm replacement will be delivered tomorrow morning and that I need to have the other unit available for the swop.
I only have the regular 1 year warrenty so I may get a refurb unit but as mine was pretty well used I have no issue with this and should be back working with it tomorrow.
Perhaps Dell can do things right - tomorrow I will see!
now to convince tomtom to cancel the original install code on TTN5

well done dell
replacement axim arrived at 9.30am - its a refurb (I only know this because it has a refurb label by the battery cover - looks brand new (and is a later production batch than the one it repaces).
just had a phone call from the lady I talked to yesterday in India to confirm the replacement had arrived and was working ok and could she close the incident.
To be honest I can't believe how easy the whole experience was - much easier than buying kit from them in the first place.
Nice to give praise when its due.

Fantastic news! Good to see happy endings. Maybe someone high up in Dell has had his backside kicked and now they are very customer friendly.
They must have read the posts on here? |

good to hear, I'v got an extended 2 yr warranty so hopefully if I ever need to use it they will be as helpful as that, did you ever have an issue with disconnections?, when trying to phone them I frequently got disconnected when I was being transferred. |
