I wondered if there was another way to handle this?
Im not sure how effective it is if you report theses items to Ebay but is there a way to 'sell' a link to the real database on this site. but instead of selling you actually placethe real link in the description. so in effect you are selling nothing but actually advertising the link.
obviously this will cost something but it might be worth a try. |

Selling or advertising links is against eBay's Ts & Cs. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Darren,
Have you considered making the full database available only to those that contribute to it / make a donation? This is the model used by Guillaume & co at www.gpspassion.com for the French database. He makes a cut-down version freely available - listing around 1000 cameras, but the full listing - 6000+ cameras - is only available to those that help out either financially or by improving the database.
Being an altruistic kind of guy, I'm an active contributer of camera locations, and a paypal donater. I don't expect everyone to do this, and this doesn't bother me unless they are taking advantage of my altruism for their own reward.

We're considering a number of options. Initially we will shortly move to a system that requires you to become a registered member before you can access the download.
Other options including a nominal fee may be tested at some stage (and it would be nominal, perhaps £1 per update) but we haven't made any firm decisions in that respect. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Cannot see how either of those options will stop the abuse, people will just use a hotmail account or similar for free, and charging will not stop it using PayPal, they will pay the £1 fee here and still try and sell 10, 20 plus copies and still make a profit.
You could use a Ecommerce company that provides credit & debit card transactions on your behalf then you would have access to all the names and addresses of people who can then download the data base, an annual fee of say £12 would raise some useful site revenue.
It could then be a registered data base and anybody selling it else where could be reported for fraud. |

He is suggesting, just lie Stalion, we find out who these "scum" are, knock on their door and show them the errors of their ways.
In Stalin's time, that meant trips to Siberia and in some cases, not even making the trip out of the front room and into a wooden box for the worms to munch on you... _________________ iPhone5, TomTom, Google maps, Navfree, Viewranger and Apple Maps (ekk) |
