|
|
I have a Palm T3 and bought Tom Tom Navigator for it sometime last year.
As the software came on an SD I never needed to "activate" it.
Not that I want to upgrade to TTN5 it won't accept my product code because it's not been activated.
I went to www.ttcode.com to try to activate it but it's asking for a device code. It says that the device code is displayed when Tom Tom runs. Well it doesn't show on mine.
What is the procedure for upgrading to TTN5 for the Palm T3?
Thanks.

When you have installed TT5 on the SD card, start tom tom. You should then get a series of screens selecting english, which hand operation etc. then it should come to 'your maps are not activated' or something similar. follow the on screen directions and it should give you the device code. Put that into www.ttcode .com enter it into the palm and off you go.
If this dosen't work, ring tom tom - their phone number in on this site somewhere. You may have to wait a while - you have been warned!
My T3 SD card was not activated when I bought my TT4 originally.
PS You may have to remove all the old tt4 files from the T3. Use FileZ, select Creator and see what you have listed under creator MniC (this is the creator used in TT5, I don't know if it is the same in TT4).
I also used softstick's card export to make a backup of my SD card before I reformatted the SD card. I use a 1GB SD card. _________________ Skoda Columbus and for emergencies: TomTom + iPhone 4 & TomTom car kit |

Thanks that did the trick.
My original SD card from Tom Tom worked without any activation. (I presume there is a unique number on the card or something)
I didn't want to keep changing cards so I copied TTN to a larger card, but because I had already used the original card in my T3 it never objected to the files being on a different card.
Anyway removing all the files like you suggested forced it to need activating and I got the device code I was lacking before.
My upgrade is now on it's way.
Thanks again Mike. |

Palm's can read the unique SD card Serial No. Tomtom previously used this to ensure the software was genuine. As it was not possible to do this on PocketPC they have reverted to the activation method across all platforms _________________ Darren Griffin |
