I guess this is somewhat off topic but i figure its usefull info at least.
Anyone who uses an ipaq has probably had the damn thing crash so badly that when it finally powers back up, its lost **everything** (except ipaq filestor). No tomtom or whatever, speedcamera software all gone so you have to go through the hassle of reinstalling everything.
Not a massive issue you might think but what if youre on holiday or in some situation where you have a now non functional ipaq/gps.
Not good...
Well, if you look here http://www.spritesoftware.com/en/personal/products/windows_mobile/pocket_pc.htm
They do a rather good backup util (rx3715 owners have this preinstalled)
that will make a standalone self extracting exe image of your ipaq.
So, you set up your ipaq, gps, other software etc. Then you make a self extracting recovery file and store it on the SDcard. Then when your ipaq crashes no matter where you are, you can turn on the ipaq, browse to the SDcard and click the file. Within 2 mins your ipaq and gps is back up and running.
Info too usefull not to share imho.

Hi cornz,
Very sound advice.
I thought I'd embarrass you as kindly as possible though before somebody came along and did it cruelly! This advice has been covered many times before in these forums - nevertheless a timely reminder to people.
Users should make sure they pay for and use the very latest versions though - earlier ones do not properly deal with and restore the TomTom bluetooth driver.

Yeah, i sort of figured that it would already have been posted at some point.
However, as you rightly say, there are always new users whom might not have been aware.
Anyway, thanks for not giving me a virtual "slap" for repeating an old topic.
For the record, i bought v3 and it works flawlessly on my RX3715. |
