|
|
I’ve been having a few problems with TTN 5 recently. The first being time to first fix, which is dreadfully slow sometimes 20 mins or more. I’ve set the GPS correctly IE ‘other cable NMEA GPS’, ‘baud rate 4800’, Rikaline_CF.
Secondly when I do get a fix even with all 5 bars showing it seems to intermittently drift all over the place or suddenly loose GPS connection altogether. Yesterday it sent me off on the M42 when I should have stayed on the M6.
TTN 4 worked fine without to many problems, but with TTN 5 and all the problems encountered it’s difficult to determine if it’s TT or the Rikaline is on it’s way out. I haven’t downloaded the recent TTN 5 patch yet so will that cure it?
Thanks in advance.

Use another program (eg Mapopolis) and see if you have the same positioning issues. _________________ Lutz

I have a CF GPS and the 5.1 patch seemed to imrpove the reliability of the GPS reception. I think they made a hash of the GPS driver in 5.0.
Apply the patch and I think you will be OK.

"Yesterday it sent me off on the M42 when I should have stayed on the M6. "
I had this happen a couple of times so its probably a bug in the software - I assume you were heading East (I was), fortunatly I ignored what the TT was telling me to do, but if you don't know the area its an easy and costly (in time terms) mistake - Mike |

Also ensure you have the external aerial connected. Even though it worked fine without on TT v4 it is still required for TT v5 - updating to 5.1 does improve things slightly but it's far better with the aerial
Cheers

I’ve now upgraded to TTN 5.1 and there seems to be a slight improvement however it still seems to go from 4 bars to 1 bar quiet frequently and still drifts. I’ll have to buy an aerial and try it.
Thanks for all the help ( as usual ).

Can only agree with the comment made about the bars going up & down like a yoyo when compared to tt3 Gps2.06 driver - rock solid usually between 3-7 sats at any one time.
Are the tt5 bars number of sats or signal strength?
