Can the program files and TTS be installed to the SD card along with the maps? I'm getting rather short on free program memory.
I tried doing this with activesync to install to Storage Card instead of 'main memory'.; the program works but TTS does not, and a lot of files are still installed to main memory. |

TTS has to be installed in the PDA memory.
Everything else on a memory card.
How are you getting on with Destinator PN? I am getting on ok, I do find for some reason though that the TTS works one day not the next, and then works again and cant find out why. (I'm using Dell Axim X50v)
I also have found out though that an update is coming out in the autumn (im in uk) which will include better postcode searching and some map updates. They also said though that the UK is all covered now so not much change.
Also the fonts seem a bit blobby on my VGA screen, I'm hoping they do something with that. I think they are just using QVGA and spreading it or something. |

Well, after a bit of experimentation I managed to get TTS to run off my SD card. It seems to work pretty smoothly, and I've managed to free up about 8Mb of program memory! :P
This is what I did
1. installed emily uk TTS using destinator console to PPC main memory
2. cut and pasted Scansoft directory i.e. '\Program files\Scansoft' to '\Storage Card\Scansoft'
3.Using Resco file explorer changed all references to Scansoft to reflect the new location.
i.e. in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Scansoft:
e.g \Program files\Scansoft to \Storage Card\Scansoft
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE|SOFTWARE\Apps\SCansoft RSSolo:
(e.g. registry value 'Program Files' changed to 'Storage Card'
(about four RSSolo values here)
Some files are installed to the Windows directory; I left these alone
4. Soft-reset
Sorry if this seems really obvious to the experienced people but I thought a detailed explanation might be helpful for anyone else wanting to try this.So far it seems to work well, no real slowdown and destinator seems to work faster with the extra free main memory. I have an imate jam and hispeed 1Mb SD card BTW. |

I should add that although I used Resco file explorer I expect you could use any registry editor. |

destcore.dll and destsdk.dll can also be moved - place them into the application folder on the storage card. Another 1.6MB saved. _________________ Lutz
