I’ve been using ViaMichelin Navigation (MapSonic) on a Yakumo PDA since the beginning of this year and I’m getting very frustrated with it. The recent upgrade didn’t include a new manual, it dropped several useful features of the previous version, support from Michelin is virtually non-existent, and I’m finding the lack of way-points a bit of a problem.
So I’m looking around for a new software package that I can run on the same hardware. I like the look of Tom-Tom Navigator 5 but after my disappointment with ViaMichelin, I don’t want to make the same mistake again.
In particular it appears that the Tom_Tom software only delivers 3D maps, without the option to switch to 2D, which I much prefer.
Can anyone offer any advice ?
Thanks. |

No, you can view the route in either 2D or 3D in TomTom Navigator 5. I tend to run TTNav in 2D 95% of the time, as it is easier to compare the position of cameras in the PocketGPSWorld database to the actual camera sites when using 2D display.

I found "Crystal-clear 3D views with day and night colors" in the list of features on the Tom-Tom website with no mention of 2D, so thank you for this information. |

Personally I use 2D 100% of the time. I've tried to come to grips with 3D but it just seems wrong somehow! |

Yeh, its not that obvious that there's a 2D view. You get it by turning off 3D on the 'Change Preferences' menu. Peronally though I always use the 3D view. |
