|
|
Hi all, just installed the speed camera database and everything went fine. although after reading a couple of threads i realised you could also add voice warnings instead of those annoying beeps!. In the zip file with the speed cameras were a collection of .WAV files containing the voices, tried to place these in several folders on my memory card with no joy?. I also found instructions on this site that (if i understood correctly) all i needed to do was replace the .chk file in the tomtom folder. This just crashed tomtom. Any help much appreciated!!!

The WAV files aren't for use with TTM.
The .chk file needs to be called data.chk, not the filename you would have downloaded from the website.
Also make sure you get the v5.000 one, not an earlier version.

Thanks
I have tried to use the file downloaded from the site and also renamed it data.chk. Was i right in placing this in the tomtom folder in the place of a data.chk file that was already in there. When i did this previously, the next time i started tomtom it wouldn't load.
Thanks for clearing up the .WAV file part.

Hi Lution,
to the forum.
You may want to have a read of the PocketGPSWorld customised POI warning sounds for TomTom Navigator 4 and 5 article, which should explain which file you need and how you install it.

Thanks guys for the quick responses.
I do not have a data.chk file in the root of my mem card. The only data.chk file i can find is in the e:\TomTom folder. Is this the one to replace or should i just place the downloaded one straight to the root? |

Yep, download to the TomTom folder.
Which version of data.chk did you download? |

Thanks for the info
The data.chk file installed ok. I had installed the incorrect version.
How do you associate the voices to the relevant speed camera devices? |

Menu -> Change Preferences ->Manage POI ->Warn when near POI
Pick the POI category, hit select and follow the instructions.
I've only got the combined speed camera file, obviously if you've got individual ones you'll need to assign them all in this way.
The mappings of what beep1, etc are, are on the page you downloaded the file from. |

Thanks
I have also got the full download file. Which caused me the problems i suspect. So i need to down load the separate gatso poi's. e.g gatso 20, gatso 30 .... Then these will appear as separate POI's? and i can then assign the sounds individually? |
