Hi, hope this isn't a stupid question but I've not seen it covered elsewhere. I have the full retail verion of TTN5 running on my Palm T3. Works OK except for a few niggles and tendancy to go for tiny roads.
My question is regarding the GPS receiver itself - it shuts down after a couple of minutes when there is no bluetooth signal, but won't come back on until I physically turn it on. I'd ideally like to hardwire it into my car, but then I'll have to find it and turn it back on every time I don't use it for 5 mins. Is there a way around this on this model?? No wake-on-bluetooth feature? I'm quite suprised at this, is this the way other recievers are too?
Cheers,
Steve |

That's the way all the receivers with software power button are working - with the small exception of the old TomTom BT receiver that could be placed into a docking station and then come on together with the ignition.
What you want is something that would actually make the issue with this kind of receivers even bigger - they would not just have to wait and sense the power button press, but also listen to BT radio - another great way to kill the receiver battery. Yes, these receivers will run out of battery even when they seem to be switched off - pretty much like a Pocket PC... _________________ Lutz

Thanks for the reply, sounds like I really wanted the old model reciever then. I understand the reason for not listening on BT when on battery, but as it's a software power button anyway it's a pity it won't listen on BT when external power is applied, ie. when ignition is on.
Cheers,
