|
|
I’m thinking of buying a new TomTom GO (probably the 500 model). I see on the Global Positioning Systems website that they are selling the TomTom Go 500 with a free speed camera database, installation & card reader/writer.
Has anybody bought a TomTom Go from Global Positioning Systems and received the free speed camera database? If you have, is the GPS camera database their own work, or is it the one from this site?
If the camera database is GPS’s own work, how do you get the updates and how frequent are the updates made available?
Thanks, |

It is almost certainly our database. It's a little underhand to use our hard work as a sales tool for their business though :x _________________ Darren Griffin |

It's definitely the PocketGPSWorld database. All you get as your 'free' database is a piece of paper containing the URL of this site!
So all you're getting is a bit of information which you could have - and probably have - found out for yourself, anyway. _________________ Roger

Perhaps s a gesture of appreciation Global Positioning Systems could make a contribution to the site for every copy they"sell"
just a thought

There site is confusing.
Are you sure that the database is this sites one. It says that it is the YooNoo speed cam database. If that is the same database should they be allowed to charge for it? |

YooNoo is Global Positioning's parent company. And no they shouldn't and we are considering our next move. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I'm not surprised Pocket GPS are 'considering their next move'.
Global seem to be oblivious to the resentment they will engender in their customers by implying that they are providing something of monetary value for 'free', when in fact you guys provide it free anyway. The offer also includes a tuppeny-halfpenny screen shield which is too small for the GO screen and damn near impossible to fit without bubbles!
On the plus side their delivery is the best - ordered pm one day and recieved 8am the next! |
