|

Hello.
I've recently upgraded to TTN5 on my HP iPAQ 1710.
It's been working OK until I put the GB postcoes on the on-board memory, where they have to be to function, and now I keep being told that the progrtam memory is low and either won't work or hang.
There's pots of room on my new 512MB SanDisc card even with the GB and France+ maps.
I've deleted all the files I can.
The storage memory has 12.26MB allocated with 2.73MB free and the program memory has 11MB allocated with 2.54MB free, total 27.26MB.
What else can I do? |

put the zip file for postcodes on your memory card then create an empty folder called 'tomtom' on the root of the card and it should work fine |

Your problem appears to be your program memory. You need to free up more. I don't think "2.54MB free" is enough. the 1710 has 64MB of RAM so I am not sure why your total allocated storage and program memory only add up to 23.26MB. Unless I am mistaken total allocated sould add up to about 63MB. How much does the PPC say it has "In Use"? _________________ Compaq IPAQ hx4700

markyhedgehog73: Thanks, that's stunning. I assume the empty "tomtom" folder helps the program to find the data? Can I move / copy the program data over to the card too, just in case the battery goes flat? :D
doctomahawk: my problem seems to be solved by moving the postcode data to the SD card. I should have 32MB ROM and 32MB RAM. On the main memory I have storage: 10.73 allocated, 5.05 in use and 5.68 free; program 16.53 allocated, 8.64 in use and 7.89 free. Does that sound about right? |

It sounds right. When I looked up this model of Ipaq on the internet it showed 64MB of RAM. Oh well I'm glad your problem is solved. _________________ Compaq IPAQ hx4700

It can be done but not without the help of some software that helps configure properly try handango for some system software for your device . I use SKTools for my Xda which can do allsorts of cool stuff |
