Hi, searched the forum for this answer but only found a reference to a possible bug but no solution.
I have a Medion MDPPC250 running Tomtom 5. Every time I start up the PDA my favourites (and home location) have disappeared
Am I missing a folder?
I'm new to PDAs and GPS so go easy on me guys! |

The favourites are stored in the Great_Britain-Map.cfg file on the memory card (or correspondingly named file if you are using a different map).
First check if you are using an SD card that it is unlocked.
Secondly check that the .cfg file is not read only.

Spot on Roger! The file was indeed set to read-only.
Changed its properties and now I'm a happy bunny :D
Many thanks

Had the same problem, just lost the favourites. Looked on the SD card in the .cfg file and it was ok (ie) was not set to read only. Also, the sd card was unlocked. So, did an active sync restore with the sd card in the pda and everything is ok now. Didn't think a restore was able to alter anything on my sd card!!...strange.

YEP.....lost favourites etc because I changed countries and then returned to GB map......seems like a bug others have had. Anyway the sd card files were ok and now I see why a restore was needed to get these 'greyed out' icons back to normal.

One suggestion is to download the laset version of poiedit http://www.poiedit.com/index.htm, as you can import the map CFG file into it and create a POI from it. |

Doesn't seem a bug to me. Favourites etc. are stored in your map settings. So if you switch maps, yuo will have different favourites. If favourites are not set yet in this new map, it seems your favourites are lost. But actually they are in the other map. |

Some great gen here but I can't find a .cfg file in the map on my SD card. There are several Great-Britian-Map files but none with a config extension.
Help please. |

It could be that you have 'hide extensions for known file types' ticked in Folder Options.
If you Right Click each of the Great-Britian-Map files you have, the Properties will tell you what type of file it is. _________________ Richard

It is there, its Great-Britain but the extension is truncated if you are looking for it via the PDA File Explorer, if you explore from MS Active Sync you will see the full name and then its easy to identify. |

You copy the .cfg to the PC and delete the original on the card.
Right Click the .cfg file on PC and choose Properties. Untick the Read Only option at the bottom, and OK out.
Copy the .cfg file back to it's original location, in the Map Folder. _________________ Richard
