when i plug my unit into my pc (with XP Pro) via usb it comes up with the autoplay search. this takes ages - about 5 minutes - & it wont let me cancel it like it should. once it's finished when i select "my computer", the "my computer" window is blank instead of showing all the drives - C drive, D drive etc, so i cant access my tom tom go 300.
Also i then can't close the "my computer" window.
i've tried reseting the restore point to a few days earlier on the pc but it still happens.
The unit worked fine originally & showed up as a removable storage device.
what can i do so it just shows up as a removeable device again?
thanks,

it showed up as a removable device when i first tried it a few days ago but now the "my computer " window is just blank , so it doesn't show up at all.
also the "my computer" window wont close down so it seems to have made the pc hang.

Without the go plugged into your pc is "My Computer" ok ?
Do your other usb devices work ok ?
Is it plugged into a usb hub ? _________________ Ray

"my computer" works fine when the TTG is unplugged from the pc.
my mp3 player works fine when plugged into usb & shows up as a mass storage device as it should.
I'm not using a hub - it's being plugged straight into my pc - i have also tried different ports & get the same result.

It may be due to any Antivirus or firewall software running. I had this problem, but when the software was stopped the go would be reconised. |

the thing is it was working fine. i put the speed camera & voices for cameras on it & all was still fine.
i dont know why it would suddenly not work.
the TTG is recognised , but the autoplay thing starts & never finishes - it does seem to fine the required files on the card.
if i put a new SD card in it's fine, so it must be the card & not the TTG.
any one know how Tom Tom are about guaranteeing cards that have had stuff added to them?
any more ideas would be gratefully accepted. |

Can’t see there being a problem- after all tomtom changed the original application so that custom pois could be added.
Had a problem a while ago pc couldn't find the tomtom at all. I tried other ports and other removable drives worked ok, solved problem by deleting usb ports in control panel, rebooted and let windows reinstall them. Might be worth a try _________________ Ray

the thing is it works fine with another SD card so the drivers & pc settings are all good.

There have been some oddities like this on the 700. It seems that the USB lead needed a harder push into the back of the GO. Maybe something similar?
Or try a different lead. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)
