I started my hunt for a GPS system today, and boy am I am confused and dazed, I thought it would be easy to find a budget unit but there are endless of them out there.
I ended up with the choice out of.....
1. Mio 168 = Approx £220
2. Mio 268 = Approx £250
3. Navigon PNA 150 GPS Satellite Navigation System = £200
I only need UK maps. So which is the best out of the above 3 units ? I only need it for GPS, I don't care about using it for anything else.
Looking at all 3 of them, they all look the same to me on paper. I am sure there must be differences. So if you had £250 to burn (and I know we are talking budget end) then which system would you get purely for car GPS ?
Many thanks for any help. |

I tried to edit my above post but couldn't find an edit button. I may have made a mistake, I headed it "Medion" but the Ebuyer advert doesn't mention this name it says "Navigon PNA 150 GPS Satellite Navigation System". But the unit looks very similar to the Medion 150. Apologies if these are not the same machine, I saw the 150 and thought they may just be clones of each other. |

I debated as to wether or not to buy the Navigon system for my PDA or buy a dedicated in-car GPS system.
I opted for the Mio268 and have to say it's a great little system, easy to use and very accurate. It is limited in what it does but what do you expect at that price. It can calculate shortest and fastest route....gives you an eta...voice is clear and it shows POI's, petrol stations etc.
i've had nothing to compare it with but i'd say it does exactly what i want and is an ideal 1st sat nav. |

The PNA 150 and Mitac 268 are very similar devices. The most important factor is what software comes loaded. Whilst the 268 can only be had with Mitac's MioMap software, itself a flavour of Navigon's Mobile Navigator, the MDPNA150 can be found with a variety of software packages installed including Medion's version of Navigon, Destinator and others.
Having said all that, personally I would spend a little more and get a Navman or GO. The software IMHO is much better than that available on the 268 and MDPNA150's . _________________ Darren Griffin |
