The proceedure depends on which PPC you have, that should be in the manual that came with the device.
It will reset the PPC to it's original out the box state. _________________ Graham.

Sorry its a Ipaq 3950 and as its not a new one I do not have a manual. If I do a "hard reset." what happens do I need to install just my programs or do I have to install operating system again? Its no big deal installing names addresses etc. And apert from a couple of games and Tom Tom theres nothing much on it. |

Don't know about the Ipaq, but just removing the battery if it's possible would cause a hard reset on replacing it.
The operating system will re-install itself to its default settings but you will need to re-install TomTom and any other applications you had previously installed. _________________ Graham.

To hard reset an ipaq usually involves pressing the "reset" button with the stylus whilst simultaniously pressing both the "calender" and "itask" buttons, (the two outboard buttons at the bottom of the device). once done there will be no display, you might have to press the reset button a second time - the OS will self load but any applications, appointments and settings will be lost - this puts the device back to when it came out of the box - hope thats of some use - cheers Mike |

It takes 3 hands to do a hands to do a hard reset on the Ipaq. You can always download a handy utility called PHM Task Manager.
It makes any type of reset (Including Hard reset) easy and its free.
Good utility to have on the PPC anyways. _________________ Compaq IPAQ hx4700
