hi all..today upon using tomtom today my pda displayed no maps found when activating tomtom..i turned unit off then powered back up again only to be met with the same message..so i carry out a soft reset and wala!! tomtom powers up but all my favourites have gone all recent destinations to. but all my poi's are still present but all have been activated in the ENABLE/DISABLE option..i am a delivery driver and all my drops were added as favourites these have now gone.i have been using a kingston 512mb sd card now for 8 months without any probs whatsoever..is there anyway of recovering these favourites..also is this a tomtom problem or the pda??..i appreciate your response regarding this post... i would also like to add that the gps arrow when driving was going across a field and not on the road... _________________ COMPAQ 3970-TOMTOM V5.210-TOMTOM BLUETOOTH RECEIVER |

Most users set up a special POI called Favourites because it is more easily edited and managed, (can be saved as a file). This could then have been copied over safely. The internal favourites are written to the .cfg file in your Map Folder. If there is a problem, and it gets deleted for any reason, TT5 will create a new one.

I've just had this problem with TT3 (first time after using it for over 18 mnths), so it's not isolated to version 5.
Fortunately, I had backed up the whole PDA that day so could recover, but it is a real problem. I'd recommend you use a POI layer rather than the favourites. |
