|
|
Was out and about at the weekend, and needed to find a supermarket to get a few bits.
I selected the 'shops' POI list expecting to find a list of Asdas, Sainsburys and Tescos, but it came up with nothing apart from a long list of 'Partco Autoparts Ltd'....
Is there a problem with my set-up, or is the standard list just rubbish??? |

haven't looked at the shops poi myself yet, but if you look here, there is a long list of poi's to download.
(long way down the list is the UK)

Many thanks for the link - looks really useful.
Forgive Johhny Newbie's ignorance though....
What do I need to do with the downloaded Zip files? (The 'POI Edit' tool seems to be for Pocket PC rather than Smartphone)

you dont say what you are using
but generaly you download and unzip the file to your desktop
then just copy and paste the files into the great britain map folder on your mem card (there will be 2 files to copy)
you just then need to enable them in poi settings
if you have downloaded and installed the safety cameras files from this website it is exactly the same procedure
if you havent downloaded the safety cameras they are here
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras.php
the instructions are there as well
you can also assign a warning tone/voice to warn you when they are near

VERY IMPORTANT POINT..
when you transfer files from the pc to the phone, it is much better to use a card reader.
some files when transfered via bluetooth get altered and although you can see them with a file reader on the phone, tomtom does not see them. |
