Before you do anything to your TTG, do a complete backup of the SD card to your PC.
Connect the TTG to the PC and select the SD card (labelled TomTom), and Copy/Paste this to a Folder on your PC.
As I don't know how proficient you are with a PC, 1 step at a time? _________________ Richard

You don't need PoI edit.
Just download the PoIs and you will have lots of files.
The GO only uses the ones ending in .ov2 and .bmp.
Throw away any that end in anything else, unless it's a "Read Me". That is, chuck the .csv .wav .xls etc files.
the .ov2 and .bmp files work in pairs. ov2 is the data and .bmp is the icon. Names will be (must be) exactly the same.
Open the GO as a removable drive when connected to your PC.
Drag and drop the pair of .ov2 / .bmp files into the Map folder of choice (usually Great_Britain_Map or similar).
Use "safely remove hardware". when removed., unplug GO and it should work.
You can then set up warnigs and distances if you need them for each PoI group. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)

If you want to use POI-Edit go to AUTOUPDATE then AUTOUPDATE MANAGER, then click on pocketgps site and update. You will then see all the POI's . You need your GO connected to the computer USB and you should see that as another drive. In POI-edit select which one you want add using the + icon to the great_britain_plus-map folder on your GO. When you have selected all you want click AUTOUPDATE NOW in bottom right hand corner.

I have autorun.inf in my GO. Don't know what it does.
Take no notice of the file extensions. They mean something different in Linux. _________________ TTGO 700 (dead)
