Hello board,
Im keen on getting a GPS system, mainly as an add on to a pocket PC which Im buying anyway, but Im worried it will just be a toy.
Im a sucker for gadgets and yes I do have more money than sense
My question is what chance is there of any of the pocket PC or Palm systems ever having access to traffic data like some standard fit car systems have, or aftermarket systems such as Pioneer?
As far as I know the TMC carrier is transmitted somewhere near the Classic FM signal so I would assume the pocket PC would need another receiver in addition to the GPS.
Id be grateful for help.
Will I ever be able to get a pocket GPS that updates traffic? Oh and no I don't want the trafficmaster on board system although it sounds very good and fair VFM.

A form of TMC is already available with CoPilot using Pocket LiveWire in the UK. You have to have a Bluetooth enabled Pocket PC and Mobile Phone (GPRS is also preferred but not required). True TMC though that's broadcast over the radio isn't available yet in the UK, there are some TMC GPS Receivers in Germany and The Netherlands, this will be the next big thing happening on the Pocket PC I believe. |

Cheers Dave
Any idea when it might happen?
And if I buy a Tomtom navigator is it likely, in your opinion, to be possible to add on or would I need a new system?

Will the Pocket LiveWire work with a BT phone when you are already using a BT GPS device ? (IPaq 5450) |

pie691, I think it's going to be the next big thing in the next 12 months.
Nichop, I believe it will but we haven't had the chance to test it, we've been promised a review copy since October last year and still nothing has transpired from Team Warrior. |
