|
|
Having happily used TTN v2 in the UK for the last couple of months on an iPAQ with a Navman GPS sleeve, I recently tried to also install SmartST Pro with US maps for a trip next week to the USA.
With both applications installed, I was not able to get either application running, so I un-installed SmartST Pro. However, I now cannot run TTN fully. The difficulty seems to be that TTN doesn't receive a signal from the sleeve. I've tried re-installing the latest Navman driver, but this made no difference: the GPS status screen doesn't show any activity (moving dots) between the GPS receiver and iPAQ symbols.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions as to to how I can restore TTN to its previous full functionality without having to perform a hard reset and/or re-install (with possible re-activation problems).
Also, I'd be grateful for any advice as to whether it should be possible to have TTN and SmartST Pro installed on the same PDA for running at different times.
Thanks in advance. |

I think you've got some sort of corruption going with the drivers. I have two iPAQ's here running SmartST Pro and TomTom Navigator 2 quite happily on the same device.
Unfortunately the Navman sleeve requires an extra driver to be installed to the Pocket PC otherwise when you insert the jacket you'll and have a CF card in it, you'll get an unknown card error. What's probably happened is when you uninstalled SmartST Pro it's removed this driver.
Previously I've installed TTN2 then SmartST Pro in that order without any issues. |

Dave,
Thanks for your quick response. Your comments helped me solve my co-installation problem (although in a rather non-intuitive way: with TTN installed, install Smart ST Pro, install the latest Navman driver TWICE, and then within the TT GPS application (i) select a different GPS receiver then (ii) select the Navman GPS3000 receiver).
I can now use either TTN or SmartST Pro from the same iPAQ, although a soft reset seems to be required/advisable (together with a manual adjustment of memory allocation - my iPAQ has only 32MB RAM) when switching between the applications.
Thanks for your help. |

Great, unfortunately Navman is still quite a memory hog. You should see what I have to do with SmartST Pro, TomTom Navigator 2 and CoPilot all installed into the same memory space. Nothing like trying to swing a cat inside a Pocket PC |
