I just received the BT-338 after reveiwing the information listed here.
I have spent the last 2 hours trying to get this to work. I have read the instructions. One set of instructions says to set baud rate at 4800 and the other says 34800???????? I can not get this to work. I have called US Globalsat and they said send an email request for tech support. I really wanted to get this working and I can not get it set up. Can anyone who is using this device please help me out? I am at a loss as what to do. I am about ready to send this back and try something else.
Thanks for any and all help on getting this operational.

Hi
I have exactly the same setup and it works perfectly. What GPS software are you using? I'll try to help more after work tonight.

I also seem to have a problem with the bluetooth freezing up the axim. I have installed the new updates for this unit. When I am in the bluetooth manager and trying to connect I can not get the link to open so I can connect. If I can even open it, it takes for ever. If I can not get it to open I have to do a soft reset and then it will finally work. Any thoughts on this?
#1) When I am in the Bluetooth browser I see "? BT-Gps-3090F8" what does this mean? I can not hold down on this to get it to open up. Both the GPS unit and the axim have a blue flashing light.
#2) Under Bluetooth general there is a line on the bottom of the page "Use Bluetooth Manager to get connection. I can not hold down on this to get it to open?
#3) I followed the instructions for getting the GPS to connect to streets and trips. streets and trips does not show port 7. Also there is no place to set the baud rate.
Am I having a heck of a time or what.
Thanks for the help I need to learn this and this is a good source. _________________ Jmoo---Learning as you go! |

Hi
is "streets and trips" your only mapping application? if it is then what version is it? It may not support bluetooth. |

Well, I have turned on my BT338 and the middle green light is flashing. I have turned on BT on the Axim. I have opened up pocket streets, clicked on "menu" and the clicked on the GPS tab. I click on "GPS configuration" and I am presented with a list of COM ports numbered 1-9 and I can select COM 7.
can you do all that? |

Thank you for your help with this.
I received a replacement Axim this morning and low and behold it works and the bluetooth appears to be working correctly. From the info you gave me I now have a working unit.
I have gotten this figured out it appears. Maybe a bad Axim or something like that.
So now on to other things. Streets and trips works pretty good. Any suggestions on something else. I would like to be able to add places and then make a note or enter the grid and save it to my desktop?
Thanks again for your help _________________ Jmoo---Learning as you go! |

I have an Axim 5 with BT-338 and they were working fine two three weeks ago but they stopped work suddenly about two weeks ago. This is not only happened to me. My friend has x50v and bt-338 also had exactly same situation and stopped working on the same time. We all have working condition and without change any configuration and it stop working. My navigation softwares (tom-tom, belkin, and matropolis) could not find GPS device but my bluetooth manager detect my BT-338 and binding it OK (my BT-338 both lights blue and green are both blinking). I also tested it on my notebook computer and I got the same result. The notebook was working fine before. I don't know it was coinstantaneous or not they stopped working after London Bombing. Your help will be appreciated. |

many things have changed because of the London bombs but not GPS!
Have you tried pairing the 338 on your Axim? |
