|
|
What do other people think of TT V5 & Traffic, I have my system set to update every 15 minutes, and the connection is showing as succesful, ie a green round icon.
My problem is the fact that the icon changes orange so quickly, sometimes just one minute after the last update. I beleive there is a problem with traffic:
Either the icon is incorrectly changing from green to orange, which I don't think is the case.
Or
TT is making additional connections using my GPRS to the traffic service, which it should not be doing if as I do, I have it set to update every 15 minutes.
Even if it is connecting and establishing that there is more upto date data, why not just download it.
My traffic status icon is orange more often than it is green, I've lost all confidence in the service, and would not recommend it to anyone in its current state. |

Mine is set for unlimited updates yet it seems not to update unless I force it. |

Is there an option to choose the download interval in TT5?
My experience is similar to MrT's. I have to manually force it to update and this morning, more often than not, the TomTom server was down. Took me about 7 trys to update once. |

It takes a lot less time to update now, but if you go into traffic to see the hold-ups, it then starts downloading the information. Strange.
I find it works much better with TT5 than TT3. In 6 months with TT3, I do not think I ever once got it to update at regular intervals during a trip of say 150 miles around the M25. This last week it has behaved itself on four such journies.(Once I got it working initially - reseting both the telephone and PDA)

I have to say the reliability & speed of updates are a lot better in v5, but the status icon is a complete waste of time. I wish there was just a red & green icon, the orange icon is pointless |

I have still got a major "interval" issue with Traffic. It seems to update OK initially, then gets bored and goes to sleep.
I end up updating manually through the journey! Not safe at all!
TOMTOM cant reproduce the problem either, which helps no end.
Yet another upgrade that fails to impress for the money spent. Version 2.24 worked well, 3.07T was fine 5.0 and 5.1 should not have been released as traffic compatible.
Getting bored with Tomtom on this one now, I have been a fan for years (since V1, Citymaps and Routeplanner) losing faith as they need to fix traffic now!
