Should TTN5 upgrade version work as a clean instal? i.e. having removed all traces of TTN3, or does it rely on remnants of TTN3 (gps engine, etc) to work? |

It does't contain the voice files but everything else is included.
You would need to copy the voice files manually from 5.0.

I think Linknet misread the original post.
The TTN5 upgrade is a complete package & will install on a PDA that's either been hard reset or never seen TTN before.
The TTN5.1 patch is as Linknet describes. |

The reason for asking was that my HP2210 no longer seems to find TT Bluetooth GPS (original not mark 2) whereas with some remnants of TTN3, including the gps.engine, it did.
I take it that the gps engine is now incorporated within TomTomNavigator.exe ther being no other sign of gps.engines in the file structur eafter a clean instal |

It would seem like the GPS engine is now incorporated within TomTom Navigator.exe however the GPS.CAB file also gets executed during the install and contains the following dll's:
ttn5bt2003.dll
BtCoreIf.dll
BtSdkCE30.dll
I believe that these are installed in the windows folder but I can't seem to find them. Does anyone know the purpose of the GPS.CAB installation since my PDA works perfectly fine without it.

Yes, the TTN5 upgrade version will work as a clean install. I had TTN3 running on an iPAQ 3970, which I have replaced with an iPAQ hx4700. The hx4700 was completely "vanilla" (i.e. straight out of the box) and TTN5 installed with no problems.

I placed the .cab files in the 2577 folder on my TomTom SD Card, and uninstalled, then re-inserted the card. It auto installs that way, and I don't need to mess with upgrading etc.
I know the upgrade would work over the top of the original install, but at least now if I ever hard reset, I can be confident that I can install the latest version automatically on inserting the card. |

Try the 5.1 patch, it's resolved some BT issues. |

I was having problems with my install after loading TT5 over TT3. did a hard reset with a clean install TT5 works fine and is faster to load and lock on, faster than TT3 was.
for IPAC 19 fortys recomend a clean install

Finally got TT5 to link to TT bluetooth Mk 1.
Hard reset - TTN5 clean install and upgrade to TTN5.1
Simple!
Obviously TTN5 installed as an upgrade over TTN3 does not clean up TTN3 properly. |

So is the consensus of opinion that it's better to uninstall TT3 first? |
