|
|
Hello, can anyone help?
I bought Tomtom Mobile 5 and is all working great in my 6630, however I wanted to make a back up copy incase I lost the phone/card and it copied but when I put in the copied card it says ‘Unknown File Format’. My TomTom software is brand new and 100% legal, so does it have to do with I need a DAT to FAT converter?
I just don’t want to risk loosing the original for what ever reason and then stuck buying a new one.
The original is 128 mb, the copied one is 256 but dual voltage. I am using a USB card reader.
Thanks for any help |

Hey,
Firstly format your new DV RS MMC in your phone, that way all the normal file folders are written the the MMC.
Now using your card reader make a copy of all the TomTom Files from the original MMC to your PC hard drive. Before you do this make sure "Show hidden files or folders" is turned on in the settings of your PC so that you copy ever single file.
Now insert your newer MMC and copy the files back from your PC to MMC. You will most probably find it will ask you if you'd like to replace folders of the same name with the one's from the PC, click ok to this.
Once done pop it into your phone & you should be done. Install .SIS applications as normal to your new card.

Ah it hasn’t actually worked.
I don’t understand, I used a brand new card reader, it’s fully legal and bought by me and the memory card is brand new too. It keeps coming up with ‘unknown file format‘. So, do TomTom right protect their memory cards? As the original one works without problems. Or I am doing something wrong? It’s going into a Nokia 6630 with the latest software/firmware.
Any further help would be great people, I backed it up on the CD for now but need to use the bigger memory card ASAP.
Thanks |

can't you just copy all the folders from mmc card using windows explorer? (provided you selected show hidden files) |

Not sure how to do that, thought a card reader was the best? Maybe it's not, not too sure... |
