I posted this in another category but did not receive any replies, so here goes again.
I normally install TomTom 5 by copying the Cab files to the PDA and then tapping on the ones I want to install.
I have an aversion to installing software that I don't use so I usually only install the TTN.CAB file.
I don't use the functions that are provided by WZD.CAB or PIMAddin.CAB so these don't get installed.
The problem is with GPS.CAB, I have tried installing this but cannot detect any difference whether it is installed or not. It must do something but I can't see the need for it.
Does anyone know what the function of this is and is there any good reason to install it?

Hi Roger
I just had a look inside GPS.CAB
It has 4 files - all seem to be BlueTooth support. If you need to use BT, then I suggest you do install it.
With respect to the other, it appears to be User Error reporting - eg user has not entered the correct data in a user field. I would thing it is essential.

Yes, three are as follows:
ttn5bt2003.dll
BtCoreIf.dll
BtSdkCE30.dll
The fourth just contains the above file names and installation paths.
I'm using a bluetooth GPS and it works perfectly without the GPS.CAB installed!

The WZD.CAB installs the TomTom logo and shortcut on the Today screen.
The PIMAddin.CAB installs the Pocket Outlook add-in.
I don't need either of these but would still like to know the function of the GPS.CAB files?
Regards

Can the cab files be taken off the Tomtom 5 cd & stored on SD card and installed on the ppc directly from the sd card?
If so will I need the product code etc. should it be necessary to reinstall using the cab files? Would the ini files also bhe needed or are they just required for a CD installation? _________________ If riding in a plane is flying then riding in a boat is swimming.
