|

No, it's not another post about the 'No POI Found!' problem! :-)
In the TTN5 manual, it says choosing 'Navigate To...' then selecting a POI category, will show you a list of all POI's in that category, sorted into ascending distance from your current position on the map.
If I select 'Navigate To'.... GATSO speed camera (pointless, I know!), the list is only about 30 or 40 long - yet there are hundreds of GATSO cameras in the Pocket GPS World OV2 file.
I know it's not particularly relevant for Speed Cameras, but how do I know I'm not missing POI's from the list in other categories? Is there a setting somewhere that limits the number of POI's it will list near your current location?
Cheers! |

Seems to be a maximum of exactly 100 every time whether you use the built in or custom POI's.

OK, thanks for that. So it's not just me then!
And here's another thing - am I going mad, or does TTN5 automatically enable a whole POI category every time you browse for one POI in that category on the map?
I only have speed cameras displayed, but the other day I searched for a hotel near my location. After that, continuing my journey, it was displaying all hotels in navigation view. I checked my POI's, and noticed that Hotels had become enabled?! It seems to do it for any POI category when you browse for just one POI in that category in map view.
It's really annoying, because I purposely keep the number of POI's displayed to a minimum to improve performance. And now, whenever I search for one on the map, I'm suddenly getting more and more categories automatically enabled for me, so I have to keep going back in and switching them off. |

Yes, it does that as well. Presumably this is another one of their "features".

Yes, TT4 had this feature also - however, the other day, I discovered that TT had mysteriously activated all custom categories for no reason. |

That's its default mode, all custom POI's activated. All de-activations are stored in the map folder .cfg file. If that file is deleted or temporarily unreadable then all custom POI's are shown as activated.
