|
|
I've just found this on support.tomtom.com:
Quote: |
Why should i download this update (TomTom Navigator 5.10) ?
This update should be downloaded in the following cases:
If you have been having problems with NAVIGATOR and the phone functionality of your PDA
If you have been having problems with NAVIGATOR and 3rd party (non-TomTom) GPS devices
Improved support for devices with VGA resolution (640 x 480 pixels)
If you have not been experiencing issues of the above nature, you should not install this update.
|
a bit dissapointing especially if you'll check the bug collection but anyway that's better than nothing. |

And it excludes Palm users - what happened to the common platform! Will still be interesting to see what has changed. |

From those release notes it looks like it's only fixing a few very specific problems and not addressing the wider-range of problems that some people have reported. There is also something a bit ominous about the statement, "If you have not been experiencing issues of the above nature, you should not install this update." That kind of implies the patch is a bit beta and that you should only install it if you are desperate! _________________ Medion 95000 | TT3.07 | Kingston 512MB SD |

Well I've installed it. I have an SPV M2000. It has fixed the problem of not having a soft keyboard when on the address or postcode lookup so thats a big plus :-) The blue tooth is still disabled when you exit Tomtom though

I have installed this update and can confirm it changed my Version to 5.10.
However your not missing anything as it still freezes when using GPRS to download Traffic
Maybe when Version 5.999 is out it will work then!
Cheers
Good Luck

I've just updated. the version is now at 5.10. Once the install had finished on the pc side, it took about 20 seconds before install started on the pda |

I can also confirm that on my O2 XDA2i. Glad I haven't paid for the subscription yet. They have got 2 weeks to fix it before my free month runs out. |

Well i can confirm it now works when i choose other bluetooth device and select the com port for my Fortuna slim gps. Now when i start tomtom it automatically starts the bluetooth gps from within tomtom. It no longer brings up the bluetooth manager.
Still can't get it to dial a poi though. |

I've applied the update to my X50v and can confirm that at the very least it's overwritten the VGA fix I'd applied, putting it back to 640x480.
It still hasn't actually fixed the tiny map scale in 2D navigator, though, so I guess 'improved support for VGA devices' actually means 'doesn't crash after 20 minutes on VGA devices any more'. Let's hope so. |

Understandably disappointed that the bugs I've experienced are not yet fixed, but it's obviously good news for you guys needing a fix for VGA issues.
One down and a few more otheres to go - but at least the patching process has started. |

well I installed 5.10 on my x50v and have just run a demo route for an hour and I could use the rest of the pda when I quit, no waiting all buttons and shortcuts worked without hanging and the memory useage looks better as well - when I quit ttn5 I still had 35mb free (it was often down to low single figures before).
