I have just installed the data.chk file on my TomTom Go 500. I am running V5.201 and have downloaded the correct data.chk file (although its file name doesn't match what the web page says?)
When I try the sounds most work fine. However, one of them still has a silly noise. I have switched my Go off now but I think it was the mobile camera noise. I get a bell followed by the word mobile?? Any ideas why I still get a bell noise rather that just the word? |

Hi Ray
I have infact just visited your site and downloaded a set of POI warnings!
I tried set 3 because the spoken warnings are very useful. It appears to be working fine on my TTGO. Many thanks!!
Just a tiny issue - the read me file instructions did not match the sound files. A small number were mixed up.
Thanks once again. Your site has many useful downloads. I will be sure to visit it again.
Kind regards

I'm probably just dim but:
Can someone point me to the new datachk file for 5.201? I can't find it here:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/tomtom-poi-alerts.php
I can only find 5.200 (Cleared out my cache just in case I was picking up an old one)
Also while I am on. Scaredycat has posted a 5.202. Does the 5.201 Datachk still work with 5.202? |

I too cannot find the new data.chk file. A pointer would be helpful as having upgraded to 5.201 I'm back to noises and not spoken alerts! |

I had a funny feeling that was the case but didn't want to risk it!
Many thanks. |

Firstly the SD card did not contain the data.chk file, but I did find a file called data05.chk within the tomtom folder on my PDA. I renamed this as origdata05.chk then I copied the 4890_mew.data.chk file into the tomtom folder, renamed it both as data05.chk and then data.chk, but I still got the default sounds, not the new ones.
I'm obviously doing something wrong.
Can anyone please help? _________________ Andy |

Hi Andy
The data05.chk file is a voice file and you will need to put it back.
The data.chk file you need to replace may be found in Program Files / Navigator on your pda _________________ Ray

If you've still got the old sounds then the original data.chk is still on your sd card.
Did you rename the downloaded file data.chk ? _________________ Ray

Its goes in the root of the sd card ie the first / main folder of the card. If you replaced the original its in the right place as the is only one data.chk.
Either you've mixed up the files or there is a problem with the download.
Try downloading it again _________________ Ray
