May I also add.
If you are upgrading your phone be ware that not all nokias have the same memory card slot. I have just purchased an upgrade of my 6600 to a 6630 the 6630 uses DV RS-MMC whilst the 6600 uses MMC most nokias will use the RS-MMC. however I have learnt the 6630 and the 6680 are differant as they use the DV RS-MMC whgich is a differant voltage.
I am going to try to copy my installation using a memory card reader. If this fails i'll resort to the CD |

Can't figure out how to upload pics folks but got ttm5 working on 7710 so here goes.
Overall i am quite pleased.
Touch screen is really helpful, wide screen is excellent, Looks like a dedicated, standalone system.
input address with full screen virtual keyboard like the ipaq.
No capital letter issues for favorites as you can toggle keyboards shift key.
Has crashed once or twice but maybe memory issues.
Three things a little annoying:-
1. almost a third of the height of the screen is alocated to the task bar. I think this sould have been placed on the side of the screen (like 9500) and not the bottom, as there is no shortage of screen width and the veiw ahead should take priority over the side view which is pretty useless most of the time. Browsing the map screen is really cool with the wide screen.
2. Although the speaker on 7710 is louder than the spv c500 the volume level is a problem. Maybe due to the speaker being at the back on 7710, whereas on the spv the speaker is on the side facing UK drivers.
3. Big screen uses alot of power although i have not tested on any long journeys yet. I use nokia's HF-3 handsfree charger and this has solved points 2 & 3.
So really only thing i can't do anything about is the poor use of the huge screen.
This isn't a review just my opinion.
As a satnav, as good as c500/6600
But if you want a really cool phone, PDA and satnav all-in-one gadget then the 7710/TTM5 is a good choice.
PS. The new gps receiver works even placed next to my gear stick so i don't have to fry it in the windscreen in the sun. |
