|
|
I am using TomTom Navigator 5 with the BT Kit i got with V3 (The silver gps receiver)
I have just installed some addition software to the PDA (iPaq h5550).
I can run TomTom fine, I can run the TripSoftware fine, but not at the same time.
I know in previous versions there was a way to unlock the port to allow extra software to be used at the same time.
How do you do it in TTN5 ?

i'm still searching
I did find this though :

TomTom ~ GPS Driver
Unfortunately TomTom have decided to leave in their "fudge" driver which takes control of the Pocket PC's Bluetooth Port and won't allow any other program to talk directly to it. This has been a major problem for most people who have more than one GPS program on their Pocket PC's, and after installing TomTom Navigator 3, as before, uninstall the TomTom ~ GPS driver and then allow it to soft reset the Pocket PC and all will return to normal.

If you want the two applications to work at the same time, then the second (and subsequent) applications will need to use the TomTom developer tools to get GPS data from TomTom, not directly from the GPS port. That is, they need to be written specially to do this.
There are GPS port sharer programs available at additional cost that can give this effect, but it's not an integral part of TT5 (or TT3 for that matter).
Windows Mobile 5 (the next version of the Pocket PC OS) includes a way to share GPS data among several applications, but don't expect to see commercial devices with that OS installed until Q4 of this year. |

I did it with version 3 by using the above example, all was fine, just not sure the same will work on v5. |
