Yes tried that NewMikey to some effect, but still very slow to keep up with me on roundabouts - and it's not as if I'm doing 60 mph round them or going anticlockwise.
Until then, I'll just bear in mind that I need to use my TT5 as an accessory, and not as a substitute for my brain |

Tomorrow all will be revealed! Speculating is as futile as trying to guess the General Election result the day before it takes place

With 2.25 hours to go, doesn't look like the prediction of an update to TTN5 is going to happen does it? Think I'll do what Lutz intimates anyway - wait for an official announcement. Then expectations don't get raised and dashed. |

Yes it is interesting. If you go to the TomTom site and set your region to English-USA you will not see the upgrade link. I'm not sure why the USA ver upgrade has not been released.
I have been given a release date several times from tomtom only to see this date go by without their promised upgrade. The only thing I can figure is they have their hands full with the problems being reported by the European folks and want to get some fixes in before releasing to a new group of customers.
I will just take the wait and see approach. I find it is not fruitful to keep asking customer support because the release dates are never honored anyway. It would however be nice to get an accurate answer just once. _________________ Compaq IPAQ hx4700

have they even admitted that they are aware of these faults?
i complained about 4700 being very hot after 30 mins, causing the whole ipaq to shut down, something to do with the cpu running at 100% i think, and the answer back today from TT (after 10 days) was:
"Thank you for your mail
This is not a not a known issue , As running our software wil not cause any PDA to run hot , I can only assume that its a hardware problem with the 4700 itself.
With best regards,

Still waiting a reply to my question re power issues and my dell x50v.
1. getting hot - almost too hot to touch sometimes.
2. power charging light going out when tomtom is running.
so not a isolated issue - tomtom know there software uses the cpu hard - far more so than any program I have run on a pocket pc - if they know nothing of it then they didn't test the bloody program on pda on THEIR COMPATABILITY LIST.
Also the VGA issue isn't an HP issue - although the 4700 appears to be more affected than my dell - this shows the absence of any proper testing as these issues were apparent to all users within minutes of the install (an install routine that fails so that the post code search doesn't work - still not acknowledged on the tomtom web site - crap support is a sign of a company without its eyes on their products - too busy looking for new ways to make money rather than fixing what they all ready have).
When you think that the last patch for ttn3 was October 2004 and ttn5 was released in June 2005 you have to wonder WTF the tomtom pocket pc team have been doing - I wonder if anyone checks timesheets?
