i just bought one and i can't get it to lock onto satellites, after hours of exposure to the naked sky and using NMEA 0183@4800 baud settings with CF GENERIC CARD selected.
maybe someone else can confirm for sure?
i recommend you buy a wired one or bluetooth.
ps. i bought this one on ebay (from an infamous seller i now know) http://www.iternet.com.tw/cf-gps/ps2200-f.htm |

Yes I recently installed Tomtom 5 for my friend when she updated to tt5
she has a HP2210 with a globestat cf receiver which works perfectly. It did take about 45 mins to lock on the first time (because she had not used it for a few weeks) but with daily use it's been working 100%. |

We have tested TomTom Navigator 5 with all our Compact Flash GPS receivers and they have all worked fine. We got the best performance out of our SysOnChip CF Plus II (www.globalpositioningsystems.co.uk/p687).
One thing to note it is better to close TomTom before inserting your CF receiver.
To set-up simply tap on the screen to bring up the Main Menu, tap change preferences, then next until you see Show GPS status, then select Configure.
Cycle through to Other Cable NMEA GPS and tap select, select GPS baud rate as 4800 then tap done. The top option on the next page should be your CF GPS receiver. On ours it stated 'SysOnChip Sys_On_G', you may see CF Card Generic or similar.
Hope this helps

Thats super thanks for your help...now just to buy a CF reciever....
Jonathan, did you get the same results for the SysOnChip CF Plus II and the SysOnChip CF Plus II with 256MB Ram.
I am about to make a purchase of one of the above and cannot decide which one. I currently have a 512MB SD Ram stick but thought for the extra £16.50 i may as well get the SysOnChip CF Plus II 256MB instead of the one without (normal SysOnChip CF Plus II receiver would cost £102 inc del and one with 256mb ram 119).
I have heard and read that the "combi" reciever+memory , users have had problems with the PDA not reading the memory and driver errors etc.
Hope you can help,
Cheers

Hi Petchy,
Once the drivers are all installed correctly the CF Plus II with Memory product operates the same as the CF without memory.
We have had TomTom 5 running successfully on a CF Plus II with 256 Memory without any problems. It was a little niggly sorting out the drivers though. Perseverance is the word!!
The standard CF Plus II will be easier to set-up
Hope this helps

Just to answer my own question. If you are having problems download the patch from TomToms website. This seemed to sort it out and Jonathons instructions then worked fine |

I can tell as fact and based upon hands-on experience, the CF Haicom 302 and 303's (be it with Sirf-II or with the cheaper Evermore) both with perfectly using either Loox600 (not on compatibility list) and Acer N10 (not on compatibility list either) and TT5. This includes the older non-foldable models too.
Also, the Sirf-II's from Rikaline have no problems working on a TT5+Acer N10 combo. |

Ive just loaded TT5 onto my Dell Axim X5 with a Rikaline 6021 X6 CF GPS card and am still struggling to get a complete GPS signal.
I downloaded the Patch from the TomTom site that states it to help with problems of third party GPS devices but still fail to get the thing to work - Im getting 9 satellite signals all bouncing around the marker line or just below and have had it pointing to the sky for hours - The neighbours must think ive gone bonkers.
Ive got it set at 4800 baud rate with a GP Leadtek (top of the list) setting
Anything else I can try before throwing the damn thing in the bin. |
