Will this work with the maps for Europe, i.e. Iberia, France, Italy etc. Just a thought because I would still like to use my france and German maps voiding more costly purchase? thanks in advance - Mike |

It's a tradeoff - you will have to know if you can live with the old maps.
Disclaimer: You need to have bought TTN5 legally to be able to use it with older maps. _________________ Lutz

Many thanks, its the first time iv'e had to open one of the TT files, I used word pad and it displayed the following:
ID=Iberia.PNA
1363885633
281
I assume it is the 281 that you change to 562- or do I need something more exotic to open the file with? - I will live with the maps for the time being as I seldom need them its better than nothing at all!!
Cheers

OK just tried it with my map of France, edit the PNA file and saved it, put the map on the SD card and run up TT5 on my XDAIIs, GB map is fine, go to swich maps, and it only displays the Great Britain, no France to select any further thoughts?? cheers mike |

What about the other way around? TTN5 maps with TTN3? Makes much more sense. |

I POSTED THIS QUESTION A FEW WEEKS BACK. The answer I got was you could only edit the pna file if you were going from version 4 to 5. If you wish to go from 3 to 5 you need the mid file from the version 4 of the maps |

Nah, it doesn't. Changes in V5 maps are almost next to none and are about 1.5 years outdated anyway. However, talking from personal experience - with v3 maps I could still load SE England, Major Roads Of Europe and North France - Calais Region and I could use it every day for work plus drive to Germany and back and do shopping in Calais/Boulogne on my way back with a single 512k card and there was plenty of space left. To do the same these days I had to buy 1GB expansion to Navman jacket and both cards are almost full. |

My only reason to want V5 maps on a V3 is to have the "latest". It would be better to have a set of maps only 1.5 years old as opposed to the 3+ year old V3 maps. |

I think some people got 4.X maps working with TT3 with a bit of help from some grey area utilities, half way solution? |

"TomTom GO" GP maps work with TT3 (or at least some do). _________________ Medion 95000 | TT3.07 | Kingston 512MB SD |

No, that's not what that does. it only allows you to use TTN3 with v4 maps, not v5 maps. And the mid file has to be from v3, not v4
Disclaimer: This is only legal if you own both v3 and v4 maps independently. _________________ Lutz
