Use Active Syn and use the explore option to get a file called Great-Britain-Map.cfg - normally it would be on the storage card folder. Copy that file to your PC then right click on the file and select properties. Then UN-Tick the Read-Only option, then OK to exit.
Copy the modified file from the PC back to TomTom and when asked if you want to Replace the file, Click Yes. |

I have the same problem with TTN5, Using HP2210 with SD card.
Tried suggestion but no avail, the tick box was not ticked in the first place.
Any other suggestions?
(I don't think it's activesync as it lost its data whilst en-route) |

Please could others please post if they have the same problems (loss of home and favourities locations), in order to determine if this is a general bug or specific to our devices. |

If you have already lost all your saved home and favourites then you could just try renaming the Great-Britain-Map.cfg file. TTN5 will then create a new Great-Britain-Map.cfg file. You could also just delete it but then you can't go back to the original file.

yep! i'm in the same situation. i've got an ipaq5550 and i've lost my favourites three times - it occurs in various ocassions like map switching, poi's display maniuplation etc. Now i keep backup of each map .cfg file to avoid that. I think that it's another bug which should appear on bug's collection list. |

it isn't funny anymore - it just happened again, this time during map browsing. ttn5 just hang for about 10 second and after that when i went to my favourites there was nothing! fortunately i keep backup .cfg on sd card. |

Tried the fix mentioned in the second post about the read only cfg file. Seems to have fixed it, Thanks. Will test tonight and post with results.

Tried the prefences>read only fix and it seems to work. Had to apply read only then remove it before copying the file across. Strange that the problem was only with UK, not France, Benelux etc !! |

I have had no problems with TT5 forgetting anything until today. After weeks of use I entered a Specs zone and thought it was strange I had been given no warning. When I stopped I discovered that all warnings, and all other POI settings had gone. When I went to go home, there was no Home set.
There had been warnings earlier in the journey, so TT5 whilst running had forgotten them.
The relevant files are not, and have never been read only.
Must be a bug. |

Just notced I have lost my Favs as well - good thing I only use Favs for temporary data using POIs for more permanent locations. at least TT5 only screws with its own internal data and does not damage OV2 files. |

Perhaps temporary fix would be to untick "Read only", set home, POI warnings and favourites and then make it "Read only" again, just so TT doesn't overwrite it? |
