|
|
Hi,
I have just upgraded to TomTom 5, and on the whole I think it is excellent, As normal with any upgrade I started with no custom POI's in the map folder. When I first used it in anger I was amazed at how smooth the map display was. When I imported my own POI files, speed cams etc the map display speed was back like Navigator 3, all I did was not show my custom POI's and everything was fine,
Is there an answer yet for solving what is more a niggle than a major problem?
I have checked the resolution of all of the custom POI bitmaps and they are all at 16 colours.
On the whole I like it, best version yet.
Regards

Every time you add a POI category to display or warn it takes up another little portion of the processors time. If there is enough extra workload this can have a noticeable effect on display re-writes.
The answer is to use only those you really need. I have the cameras set as Warn when Near, but all other POI are Disabled under Disable/Enable so that they don't show on map while driving. _________________ Richard

TT4 could display thousands of POIs in a dozen categories without a problem. TT5 can't - it isn't a processor problem, it is a TT5 problem. Yes, I am sure faster processors wil lcope better wit hthe TT5 bug, but TT4 ran fine. TT5 can't even run fine with one POI category of 30 POIs. I had TT4 running with over 12,000! |
