Ok I know its something I'm doing wrong because so many of you have got it right
I've followed the instuctions to the letter and downloaded the new 4890 data.chk. My data.chk file was located on my storage card under TomTom (I've searched and there is not another so named file anywhere), I removed it to my PC and coppied over the new file and renamed it to Data.chk then did a soft restart on my ipaq and restarted TomTom 5.
I open 'warn when near POI' and select the POI I want and choose a sound and test, but all the sounds remain the origional horrid ones?
I've repeated this over again but to no avail? Can anyone help me?

The only thing I can think of is that there is a copy of Data.chk in your pda memory.
I don't know the structure of how the pda programs are laid out but some people have moved data to, and from, to get different programs working. _________________ Richard

Yep now how stupid do I feel!
There was indeed a data.chk under prog files/navigator (I thought I had looked in that folder?)
Anyway all working great now and I'll just go and look for that hole to slide into...
Cheers for your help... :D |

Hi Guys, Can i just say this site is fantastic before i go any further and realy helpful.
I have just purchased tomtom go 300, and installed the camera database and sounds, but i only have the below in poi:
pocketgps continental
pocketgps uk gatso
pocketgps uk temp
first of all whats the difference in the above, and secondly, how do you know what is the limit for the different zones?
thankyou |

There can be 3 setups for speed cameras.
The first is a single file that contains all the cameras together, without any reference to what type. This is named pocketgps_uk_sc.ov2 and found in the 'single file version' folder.
Second is the 5 file version that divides the cameras into types. Gatso, Mobile, Specs, Redlight and Temporary. These you will find in the 'ov2 bmp' files.
Third is the full 13 file version that divides the Gatso and Mobile files into speed zones. There are 7 each of the Gatso and Mobile files. These are found in the 'speed zoned/gatso/ov2 bmp' and speed zoned/mobile/ov2 bmp' folders. Add to these the Specs, Redlight and Temporary files as above.
I have not included the Continental file because you will only need this if going to the continent.. But should you want it , it's in the 'ov2 bmp' folder.
When you've decided which set you want copy each .ov2 file, and it's matching .bmp file to your map folder. Then setup the POI's in Manage POI.
Be aware that the SD card on the TTG300 can be quite full so you may well need to delete some un-used voices to make room. _________________ Richard

Please could anyone advise whether the TTG300 5.201 update affects the spoken alerts by Lutz?
Mine is working fine with the 5.2 update and so I dont want to spoil things - but the full back up facility with the .201 upgrade sounds tempting.

I too have used the voices on the tomtom system, running on my palm t3
I did find that the volume was a bit low, but worked great just the same.
Problem is I have just upgraded to the new tom tom release, which is even better, but I can not get the voices to work, on the new software, it actually stops the new software from running, any ideas ? |

You did to use the right data.chk file for the version of software you are runing.
Check what version you are using and download the new data.chk _________________ Ray
