|

Brought Navigon ( NAVTEQ ) BlueMedia BM- 6300 Sat-Nav 256 mb card.
INCLUDES Speed camera alerts, ,mobile,redlight,specs,temporary.
From makros. £270
Its brill! but manual is rubbish 4 pages , found one onweb site 68 pages .
The software help line is based in Germany and cost 25p per min.
The hardware hotline is in uk, Evesham still 25p per min. they said call Germany, They just sell them and do not know about the software.
Looks like no support.
Iam having problems getting the Speed camera side of it to work.
I see that it is on the Favarite menu and thats it.
came with two disks 1 the microfsoft activesyn. 2 map of Britain and has photo of speed camera on it too.
Where do I get camera updates from ?
Do I pay for them?
Not sure what to do , I may take unit back if cannot get speed camera stuff to work. |

The 68page manual is also on your CD with the Pic of the camera on it.
The database is built in to the software, mine came with a start up sheet explaining how to set up the speed camera alerts, it is very quick and easy. Evesham offer free email support at gpssupport@evesham.com I'm sure they could send you a copy of the start up sheet. The sheet also explains how to get updates when they become available.
Mine works a treat and much cheaper than buying a dedicated speed cam warning device!
Good luck |

Just been reading this forum after seeing that this unit is again on offer in the Makro mail for £200 + VAT from tomorrow.
Any further advice or reviews for me before I go and buy one please?
Thanks

I'd say go for it.
The manual and set-up guide has been improved a lot, and the camera database is bang up to date. Both are available from www.lowestonweb.com/destinator

Just purchased a Blue Media 6300 sat Nav
Having a problem entering postcodes?
I can enter the full 6 digit postcode in the box on the bottom left, but in the box at the top, only 4 digits show?
Thus, entering LE3 3LW only comes up with LE3 3
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

I purchased the Bluemedia unit from Makro for £199 plus VAT. It is also available from Staples about £270 inc VAT.
The unit worked OK, including the camera alerts, out the box and some 2 minutes after I attached it to the windscreen via the supplied bracket.
It also has exceeding the speed limit alerts but I had to activate this via the menus on the system itself.
The post code only works to the 4 th digit and then it gives you a list of streets. This also seems to be true of other systems. A pity but I can live with that as sofar everything else is OK. The problems with the software in regard to recalculation of route and roundabouts also seems to have been fixed in the version on the Bluemedia.
Destinator have what they call a user "Community" but you need a license key, not supplied with the unit. I e-mailed Destinator and Evesham about this yesterday (Saturday) but no reply yet.
For the money I am very pleased even with the cameras and speed alerts let alone the SatNav. :D |

I also e-mailed them about the postcode thing above at the same time as posting the question here, and again have had no reply to date.
Have read in several places that their support is not up to much.
In the meantime, I did work out how the postcodes work as said, bringing up a full list of roads with that code after enetring the 1st 4 digits. |

The postcode search is based on the first 4 or 5 digits (depending on type of postcode) This is true of most other GPS systems and is generally down to the size of the postcode database and licensing.
I don't find this to be a problem at all as once the first 4 or 5 digits of the postcode are entered you can then choose the correct street and house number, piece of cake!!!!! :D |

Hi all,
I have been using Navigon for the last four months, but due to software problems ( I hope will be sorted out ) I have installed Destinator 5.
Can someone explain to me why if I search a street/road by name its not there, (es: Siloh Road, Swansea) but if I enter the postcode the street/road I'm looking for comes up.
I never had this problem with Navigon I always found all the streets by name |

You will find that Siloh Road is actually listed under 'Landore' on the outskirts of Swansea. If you search by Road name first by tapping the little icon of a house in the address section you will find it easier. |
