|
|
Hi - first post and its a question!
I recently bought a Dell Axim x50v - lovely bit of kit, BTW - and also picked up the Dell BT GPS system. Maps are provided by Navteq I beleive.
I'd like to be able to install the POI to this pacage, but having searched, cannot find anything relating to the Dell system.
Anyone done it?
Any tips?
Thanks |

Hi there. I think you've come across the same problem as many others with Dell PDA's running the Navteq software. It seems that it's not so easy to load aftermarket stuff like speed cameras and POI's (unless anyone else out there has had any success?).
Dell in the USA has announced that it will have map updates available from July 1st (see http://www.navigation.com/dellupdate/index.html) so I'm hoping that they're now taking this issue seriously and their customers really do want to be able to adapt and customise their systems.
Other than that, it seems to me that we may have to consider buying a more popular software system such as Tom Tom which seems much more adaptable and user friendly.
After saying all of that, I'm delighted with my Axim x50 and BT-GPS/Navteq package - I just wish it was a bit more versatile!!
Perhaps we can keep this thread going for other Dell system users?
Cheers

Hi Russ-I have a horrible feeling you're right!
I love my Axim-I'm typing this now on my wireless network!
The navigation package I have found to be adequate -though as it's the first time I've had one I don't have much to compare it too.....but I would like to do more with the GPS solution....and the POI is a minimum!
Having purchased the package I'd like to use it and not have to buy another.... |
