The problem for me isn't converting them to a lower bit rate,
The problem is extracting the files,
For what ever reason, Viftool doesn't work,
Need to either contact the author of Viftool, or contact the person who created the Yoda and Vader files,

not quite sure what you mean by extracting the file
for your info i saved the file on the desk top then extracted them with "win rar" (an unzipping tool) then just dropped them in the voice file in tom tom using actve sync
every thing just worked didnt have to do any thing else
hope this helps

the sound files are being stored in the files you installed to your c500, when the nokia operating system plays those sound files, there is no sound (dependent on which symbian op system the nokia has) |

I've just checked and winrar does not open data.chk files,
What file are you opening with winrar?
What version of TomTom are you using?
What phone is it on?
Need more input,

i am using a c500 with tom tom mobile version 5
i downloaded the zip file for these voices and unzipped it with win rar then placed the data.ck file straight into the voices file on tom tom using active sync
it is working perfectley on my system
i do not have a problem with it
out of interest why do you need to open the data.chk file?

If we can get the audio files out from the data.chk file then we can convert the files to work on all Phones,
