|
|
I recently purchased an ipaq 4700 and felt the BT338 would complement this. I used the pair with TTNavigator 3 and gps 3.07 and found they worked perfectly. I was extremely pleased with my selection.
I then upgraded to TT5 and found the GPS could not be found - similar as per several of the other links in the forums. I have tried all the suggestions given in these forums even the one where a registry entry is altered, but to no avail.
I decided to reformat the ipaq – performed a hard reset and then only loaded TT5 and the BT338 software (GPS info) – still no GPS with TT5 and after trying the supplied software with the BT338 where I start GPS on com8 serial8 at 38400 baud the blue light on the GPS starts flashing faster as per having a connection but when I go to GPS info there is no information. There is a similar reaction with TT5 .
I then reloaded TT GPS 3.07 and found that straight away everything was ok. 5 to 6 satellites found and logging. But this is no use for TT5. I now don’t know whether it is the IPAQ the GPS or the software at fault. Has anyone any more suggestions to try???? |

I own a copy of tomtom 5, XDA2S and a global sat bt338 GPS; I am having similar problems in connecting the bt338 to tomtom. I think it could be bug in the tom tom software since prvious versions of it work well. I hope TOMTOM get there finger out and resolve the issue.

Mine is working, but I am using GPSGate to avoid any other ocnflict inside TomTom Nav 5.
In addition I have selected other wired devices, select the com port and then select the baud rate of 38400.
If I get chance today I will exclude GPSGate from the equation and test it without.

Have managed to make everything work with the simplest of tasks - I saw this in another forum and thought I would give it a try - Remove the battery from the BT338 for 2 minutes!!! On reinserting everything came to life - TT5 works selecting the other bluetooth GPS and com port 8 which is the correct way. GPS info now also works. I still dont know why I got TT3 GPS 3.07 to work in its previous state so in case I am just lucky I am keeping everything crossed |

Hi,
I don't know if this will work for you, but I have a SPV M2000 which is based on the XDA2S, and I had the same problems you are having. find out what your out going com port is then.
In Tom Tom 5 select other cable NMEA GPS NOT Other Bluetooth GPS, set baud to 38400 and choose Com Port ? (whatever your out going port is).
I hope this info can help.
