Folks
Got the TTN5 u/g today, and just been spending hours trying to get the GPS to be connected to no avail. Worked perfectly before!
-Arkon GPS Powered mount
-HP 4150
Done the settings, GPS, 4800, Com1 bit... am I missing something?
Cheers

Thanks for the idea...
But still doesn't work. Tried all sorts of things, but nothing.
I'd just feel reassured if someone had got the Arkon GPS mount to work with TT5?
I'll keep it like this for the weekend, but if no success I'll have to go back to TT3.

I too cannot get the Arkon powered GPs PDA mount (cm800) to work with TomTom Navigator 5 - it worked fine with Navigator 3.
The TomTom GPS programme picks up a signal so the mount is still working but when I start the Navigator programme nothing happens despite spending hours changing baud rates etc.
Any help would be much appreciated. |

Hi vek
I gave up in the end. Admitted defeat. I tried everything, and I am supposed to be a highly qualified electronic engineer of more years experience than I care to remember!
In the end, I concluded that the output of the Arkon GPS mount is just not being recognised by the TT5 s/w. I have now bought a bluetooth GPS. Not an ideal solution, as I cannot now get Traffic as the BT is now occupied to the GPS, and can't talk to the mobile at the same time!
Would be really interested if anyone has solved this and got this combination to work.
Cheers

Thanks Charles - I guess I should give up to!
Which BT GPS did you buy and do you still use the Arkon mount - i notice you can use it to charge the BT GPS?
I am thinking that I should buy a TomTom BT GPS to ensure it actually recognises it!
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Kev
I bought a Globalsat BT-338 from a UK supplier on Ebay for £100. Works well being charged by the Arkon mount (made up a small lead courtesy of Maplin). And the other advantage is that it can be used whilst walking!
I see you can get the TT GPS for a little cheaper so that may also be an option.
Cheers
